Polyethylene lining

PE-lining or polyethylene lining - are flexible plastic liners, designed to line the inside of a flexible intermediate bulk container (FIBC or bulk bag). [1] PE-lining is also used for pipes.

PE-lining can also be used as a coating in cold climates. The ice adhesion of PE is much lower than stainless steel [2]. PE lining is used in dump trucks to avoid the adherence of moist materials such as sand or soil during the tipping of the load. [3]

Lining for trailers

Some companies offer the lining of the trailer with UHMWPE (ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene) to avoid problems in winter. The Swedish company ScanLining AB has tested their lining in northern Canada at -45°C with good results. The experiments have shown that the load does not freeze to the surfaces of the container, which eliminates the need for exhaust heat, vibrators or such other less environmentally friendly solutions as pouring diesel or forming oil into the flatbed before loading.
