Manual ice removal from a wind turbine blade. [1]

An active de-icing method is to remove ice manually with hand tools. This method consumes a lot of time and efforts, which makes removal costs and standstill costs very remarkable. In addition hand removal of the ice can’t be conducted if the weather conditions are harsh. The ice is also typically removed manually at sea vessels and offshore platforms. When the ice is removed manually, there is always possibility for injuries due to falling ice.
